MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Assist the Activators and swimming instructors who are responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of delivering swimming lessons at Preston City Council.
  • Work towards training in Level 1 and Level 2 Swimming qualifications to support deliver of courses and lifeguard pool times to enable female only swimming provision.
  • The post holder must display a professional attitude whilst on shift and be committed to raising standards in and around the centre.
  • Use a wide variety of IT applications, in particular Microsoft Excel but also e-mail, Word and other College data management systems
  • Gather and collate information from organisations about their activities over the including sports and local Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector organisations
  • Work with the Preston Sport and Health team to promote key activities, events and initiatives within the priority wards of Preston.
  • Gather and collate data on the system to present public information about activities to women and girls
  • Encourage, promote and support women and girls groups to become more active.
  • Use social media to encourage, engage and circulate information on events and important messages
  • Receive and record internal and external telephone calls, emails and verbal messages to provide information and directing enquiries as necessary
  • Assist with the design and issue of questionnaires to obtain feedback on service provision.
  • Undertake a range of administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the project e.g. filing, incoming/outgoing mail, registers, session plans etc
  • The post holder must be prepared to work as a member of the team and assist in or carry out other staff duties during times of emergency including staff shortage, high workload, sickness and holidays etc.
  • Plan and organise workload to ensure that targets and deadlines are met
  • Deal confidently with staff, peers and customers demonstrating respect and dignity at all times to deliver high levels of satisfaction and customer service
  • Ensure integrity of data on all systems including personal and financial data under data protection laws.
