Instructors for 2015-2016

Mathematics Instructors: The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Northern Arizona University invites applications for one or more non-tenure track, one-year instructor positions for the 2015-2016 academic year. Positions will begin August 24, 2015. Instructors teach lower-division mathematics, mathematics education, and/or statistics courses up to 15 credit hours (usually four courses) per semester during the academic year. Instructors participate in department and university service activities and engage in commensurate scholarship and/or professional development. The salary for a new instructor is $35,000. These are one-year positions; however, there is the possibility of renewal contingent upon department need, individual performance, and the availability of funding.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, or mathematics education OR a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in a related field.
  • At least one year of experience teaching mathematics and/or statistics courses at the high school or college level.
  • Applicant must be able to begin work, with all degrees completed, on the contract starting date of August 24, 2015.

  • Evidence of high quality teaching
  • Strong academic record
  • The ability to teach a wide variety of lower-division courses
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Experience and/or commitment necessary to work with a diverse population
  • Abilities and experience that align well with department needs such as teaching hybrid courses or modular-based courses and collaborating on innovative teaching strategies
