Application Guidelines
The Global Health Concentration of The University of Texas School of Public Health encourages students to pursue careers in global health. This is an opportunity for highly motivated individuals to experience attendance at meetings and conferences related to global health issues.
Eligibility
- A strong interest in, and potential for, a career in global health activities.
- Support of their home academic institution, including a committed mentor.
- A commitment to pursue international research training.
Application Procedures
In order to apply to the program each applicant’s file must contain the following:
1) Application: Please complete the application.
Applications may be submitted electronically to:

2) Mentor’s/Advisor’s Letter of Recommendation:
To be completed by a faculty member who has agreed to, upon your acceptance into the concentration, serve as your concentration advisor both during and after your attendance at the global health conference or meeting. The letter of recommendation should be e-mailed to: mailto:?subject=Global%20Health%20Concentration%202011%20Scholarship%20Application
The letter should include:
- full name of student applicant
- agreement to act as mentor or advisor to the applicant, including a statement of how their academic interests interface with those of the applicant and how they expect to help the applicant further develop those interests .
- an evaluation of the applicant’s qualifications (to include academic performance, citizenship, problem solving skills, and coping skills ability).
3) Transcript:
Students are responsible for arranging a copy of their current school transcript to be mailed. For UTSPH students, this can consist of the List of Courses and Comments Cards or an unofficial transcript. Please mail, email, fax or bring the transcript to:

This is a self-managed application. You are responsible for insuring that the above listed documents are submitted no later than two weeks before your conference start date in order for your application to be considered.
Timing
Applications that are received along with letters less than two weeks before your conference start date will not be reviewed.
Applicants will be informed of Results. You will be informed of the results of the application review process. .
