Dell Data Protection | Endpoint Recovery TM8/4/2015

Changes for Beta 6(1.0.0.5312)

  • Backups at Startup: When the Endpoint Recovery service starts up we now check for any backup jobs that missed their slotted schedule time. If the time has passed but no successful backup of that type has been run, the Endpoint Recovery service will automatically start a backup.
  • System state backup and restore: these have been updated for increased reliability.
  • The Time interval in backup schedules now shows as a timespan rather than a clock time.
  • Destination Attach: this now works fully. It also supports network username and password entries to attach a network share.
  • Job Activity Display: this now shows when DDPER calculate the file sizes and when it runs a shadow copy.
  • Shadow Copy Error Reporting and Logging is now greatly improved
  • Restore of deleted files now correctly restores the last undeleted version.
  • Network username/password support and error reporting is much improved. We more appropriately deal with multiple domain issues with CIFS.
  • Restore Page could crash with a folder with 10,000+ subfolders is now repaired. We don’t know if there’s an upper limit on the number of subfolders but it’s pretty large.
  • Translations: the GUI is now available in 11 languages. The service translation will be available in Beta 7 – so service error messages are still in English.
  • CDP backups no longer fall back to shadow copy when files are locked, they just fail. This really helps when monitoring outlook PST files.
  • The restore page no longer lets you restore from offline destinations.
  • Offline destinations are more obviously shown in the Destinations page.
  • The endpoint notifiercan be disabled from the GUI directly in the Settings page. This requires a restart of the notifier.
  • Added ability to restrict backups to only when a specific windows user is logged in. This is not fully tested and probably will change in Beta 7.
  • The setup program now correctly detects .NET 4.5 and will install it if required. In beta 5 we confused .NET 4.0 with .NET 4.5.
  • Changing passwords now correctly enter/show hints.
  • Some wording changes in the GUI. Data Password is now Encryption Password.
  • Restore now restores each file as a .partial file until complete to avoid destroying the destination when shutting down during a restore.
