What is PCT?

Pacific Coast Television is the nation’s longest running non-profit Community TV station supporting open access to all and the communications goals of our coastal community since 1962. PCT has two studios in the Pacific Coastside, one fully functional studio in Pacifica, complete with media lab for volunteers and one in Half Moon Bay, with compact studio equipment for field productions.

We are currently seeking a serious, career minded intern who wants to apply their tv production knowledge to work at the Half Moon Bay Production studio. This is a paid internship position.

Job Roles

-  Reviewing festival films and contacting their producers for permission to use them on air at PCT

-  Editing shorts and feature films into public programs, including placement of commercials and interstitials.

-  Shooting community events and editing them into 3 minute segments to play on air.

-  Teaching camera and editing workshops to volunteers and community non-profits.

-  Managing Community outreach and promotions for non-profits .

-  Camera Operation, Switcher, and Graphics for local meetings and productions

-  Handling/Maintenance of equipment for community check out

Competitive Candidates will have:

-  Any video production experience. College classes, Freelance, personal projects, or other internships are acceptable experience.

-  Good teaching skills and patience, able to teach inexperienced volunteers how to operate studio equipment

-  The ability to make a serious commitment, good work ethics, a good attitude and the ability to be flexible

-  A passion for working with the community

-  A mode of transportation to get to and from Half Moon Bay, CA

-  At least 12 hours a week available for this position

Half Moon Bay City Council Meetings – Tuesday

The intern will be the production supervisor for Half Moon Bay Government meetings. They will operate the two remote controlled cameras and use the Tricaster to set up standard wide shots and set up the captions for the meeting.

Coast Life – Intern Show

The Intern -led program, Coast Life, showcases fun things for tourists and locals to enjoy along the coast side. Evergreen topics. Interns research potential segments and present them to our Executive Director and once they’re approved, go out and film and create a 3 minute segment to be used on the program.

Annual Live Auction Sample – Twinkie from Live 105’s Hour

EVery November, Pacific Coast Television holds an annual Telethon Fundraiser to raise money for the tv station and to showcase local businesses. Here is a clip of LIve 105.3’s Twinkie, from the Kevin Klein Live Morning Show, as an auctioneer at the event. All Camera work and Control Room work was done by interns and Pacific Coast TV volunteers in a live studio production.

Holiday Special

On days with no major productions or meetings, the intern will create 1-2 minutes videos for the channel. This is an example of a man on the street style interview during the holidays, asking people about theChristmas.
