Dear Students and Parents,

It is that time of year again! Time for the annual Brougham grade level and all school talent shows! The grade level talent shows are on the following dates:

1st: May 3rd at 12:45

2nd: May 4th at 1:15

All School Talent Show:

The grade level talent show acts will be reviewed by Mrs. Haas, Mr. Martin, and one other specialist teacher. We will be judging on overall quality, stage presence, preparation, appropriateness, and audience appeal. We will select the top 20-25 acts from the grade level shows (1-5) to perform for the all school show on May 18th at 1:00 p.m. Any changes that might need to be made to a selected performance will be discussed with the participant(s) prior to the all school show.

Guidelines:

·  Eligibility: Only Brougham students grades 1-5 will be eligible.

·  Props

1.  Must be present at the grade level show.

2.  All costumes must be appropriate and meet school requirements (i.e. no short skirts, no tight fitting clothing, no inappropriate logos).

3.  If any prop is considered a risk factor, a parent will need to be at the talent shows to supervise.

·  Music/Written Dialogue

1.  All music must be appropriate and ALL lyrics turned into Mrs. Haas by Friday, April 22nd.

2.  You must provide Mrs. Haas with a copy of your music on a CD by Friday, April 22nd.

3.  All written dialogue must be appropriate and a copy of the dialogue must be turned into Mrs. Haas by Friday, April 22nd.

4.  Lip-syncing is not permitted.

·  Dance

1.  All movements must be appropriate.

2.  No line or directional dances will be permitted. (Examples: Cha-cha Slide, Macarena, etc.)

3.  Recordings must be turned into Mrs. Haas by Friday, April 22nd. If the song you are dancing to contains words, you must turn in lyrics to the song by Friday, April 22nd.

·  Various Talents:

1.  Students can choose from a variety of talents for the talent show (i.e. magic, karate, gymnastics, juggling, instrumental group/solo, a skit etc.).

2.  Some talents may be left to the discretion of the judging panel on whether they are safe enough to perform for the talent show.

·  Talent Size/Number of Talents:

1.  Students are allowed to perform in 1 act unless they are also involved in a classroom teacher initiated performance.

2.  There will be no more than 4 people in a talent unless otherwise approved by Mrs. Haas.

3.  Talents should run approximately 1-3 minutes, but no longer than 3 minutes.

4.  You may perform in one of the following categories: Vocal, Instrumental, Dancing, Drama, or Various.

If you are interested in performing in your grade level talent show, please complete the attached form and return to Mrs. Haas by Friday, April 22nd along with any CD accompaniments and/or lyrics. No late forms will be accepted.
