Outcomes and Assessment

10/11/13 Meeting Notes

Present: Ehrlich, Morris, Owens, Prochnow, Rodriguez, Turner, Urtecho

  1. PLAN: Each division chair will be contacted to determine their plans for the dialogue day. They will be asked to inform the OA Committee when and where they will meet as well as their general plan for the dialogue.

Each Division will have an assigned OA member that will monitor their progress during the Dialogue Day. This volunteer will do the following: 1) Get snacks and drinks in JM 115 and deliver them to their Division immediately before the dialogue/meeting; deliver a sign-up sheet and FLEX option sign-in for the dialogue; 3) get a copy of the agenda; 4) make sure each person is given a raffle ticket.

If the division will not meet, individuals can sign up in JM 115. FLEX signups will also be available as will snacks and refreshments.

The raffle will take place on the next Monday and will more than likely be a gift card for coffee from Le Boulevard Coffee Hut.

Flyers need to be sent out by Joni once again, offering faculty several ideas on what they could during this OA workday.

Once meetings are complete, each Division Chair must submit a Dialogue Day Report to Joni outlining the progress made during this event. Assigned OA members will collect leftovers and bring them back to JM 115.

  1. The OA webpage should have at least 4 model assessments to display. Each Division should be approached and volunteers interested in showcasing their results identified.
  1. Programs in TracDat need to show some evidence that progress has been made towards assessment. Until a more definitive method of assessment is identified, programs should file two documents in their TracDat Document folder: A document showing the results of the mapping of courses to Program Outcomes and a second with a narrative describing how achieving mapped course outcomes through course completion provides evidence for successful student learning, progress toward degree, and preparation for future professional and educational opportunities.
  1. All divisions need to create a 3-year assessment cycle (Jared’s Model) and add it to their TracDat document folders. In turn, each course needs to have the years and terms of assessment indicated in the course outcome module.
  1. Julie indicated that she and Tim have been working on assessments for each initiative/committee. This will be discussed at the next OA meeting.
  1. The committee asked that there be a hiatus on workshops. We have too many, so it was respectfully requested that the Program workshop be postponed until next semester.
