Dear RES Students and Parents,
February is “Healthy Heart Month” and the Richland Elementary physical education program will celebrate healthy lifestyles by hosting a day of jump rope, music, and fun. On Friday, February 26, 2016 students will rotate to a variety of jumping stations for one hour. This is a great way to exercise together, make our hearts stronger and for our students to demonstrate their jump rope skills.
As part of “Healthy Heart Month” we will be accepting donations for the American Heart Association through their “Jump Rope for Heart” program. Your contribution may be in honor or in memory of a loved one. Talk about it as a family and your child can complete and post the “heart” below on the JRFH bulletin board. It would be great if each child could make at least a $1.00 donation, but any amount is acceptable.Last year,Richland Championsraised an amazing $14,307.47 and hope to reach $15,000.00this year. Please be sure to sign the permission form and place in the envelope with your donation.Checks should be made payable to the “American Heart Association”. Deadline to turn in money is Friday, February 26, 2016.Online fundraising information is attached to the envelope.
This program teaches children about the positive effects of exercise, diet and a healthy lifestyle and supports physical education programs as well. Money collected will be used to fight heart disease and stroke through continued research and education. Heart disease and stroke continues to be the number one cause of death in our country. It also provides children an opportunity to contribute to their communities’ welfare.
