PREPARATIONS BEGIN FOR OPERATION BLUE CHRISTMAS

FARMVILLE, VIRGINIA – Fundraising for Operation Blue Christmas is officially underway and the Farmville Police Department is again teaming with our local Pizza Hut, who will be donating a portion of their sales to the cause. Operation Blue Christmas is a unique opportunity for local children in need to go Christmas shopping with Farmville police officers. For the remaining Mondays in November, Pizza Hut will donate 15% of their sales between the hours of 4 pm and 8 pm to Operation Blue Christmas. To assist with tracking sales, special coupons are required and will be available at both the restaurant and the police department. If you want to help with Operation Blue Christmas, all you have to do is present one of the special coupons when you eat at Pizza Hut on any of the remaining Mondays in November between 4 pm and 8 pm.

This is the fifith year for the program and according to Operation Blue Christmas Coordinator Corporal Jay Talbott, “Operation Blue Christmas grows bigger each year and is a heartwarming project for us to be involved in. Last year, we were able to take 10 local kids shopping. What better way to spread the joy of Christmas, than to help a child in need.” Talbott added, “Imagine how a child would feel, if on Christmas morning they woke up and had nothing under their Christmas Tree. If we can prevent that, why wouldn’t we?”

In addition to the efforts of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and several other local businesses that wished to remain anonymous, have made monetary donations to the program. For more information on Operation Blue Christmas, please contact Corporal Jay Talbott at the Farmville Police Department at 434-392-9259.
