Dear Orange Team families,
There are several forms included in the attached packet, and I would like to explain each one.
Orange Team students will be participating in Junior Achievement’s BizTown program. Students are currently learning about our economy in social studies class, and the culminating activity is to spend a day at the Junior Achievement facility in York, PA where students earn money by working in a business. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED…HELP, PLEASE!
The first paper is an explanation of Experiential Learning, and the second sheet is a Request for Volunteers (YELLOW FORM) to facilitate one of the businesses on the day of our experience. I am in need of 20-28 volunteers!
Volunteers MUST complete a 2 hour, in-person training (December 7 or November 16) AND
Be able to attend our trip Wednesday, December 9, 2015, 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
IF you have previously volunteered at BizTown, you may review the training online and then arrive at BizTown 30 minutes before students the day of the trip. (8:00 a.m.)
All newvolunteers need to have clearances and a TB test prior to our trip in December. If you were approved as a volunteer by the District prior to August 25, 2015, you can still volunteer as you have in the past. Here is the link to our District’s clearance information:
If you are interested in helping at BizTown, please return the yellow form within the packet. I would like to have all volunteers return the yellow form by Friday, October 09 so I may submit my volunteer list to the district office for review. Many parents signed up at Open House, but returning the yellow form is helpful in knowing that you are still able and willing to volunteer.
SCHOOL PERMISSION SLIP (BLUE PAPER)
Please sign and return the school permission slip by Friday, October 30, 2015. Thank you!
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT PERMISSION SLIP (GREEN PAPER)
Please read the three choices carefully and select only one option.
You must give permission for your child to attend the field trip.
Then, you may allow your child to be photographed OR you may deny your child’s pictures to be used by Junior Achievement.
Please return the JA permission slip by Friday, October 30, 2015. Thanks!
JA BizTown T-shirt
You may order a BizTown t-shirt for $5.00 using the website provided. You may also send in $5.00 cash in an envelope with your child’s name to school, and I will get the t-shirts the day of our trip in December.
Thank you for supporting your child’s education. This experience will be one your child will remember for years to come! I believe in this program so much that I will be chaperoning my 5th grade child's school in January.
