Dear Morton Ranch HS Orchestra Senior,

This is the application for the 2017 MRHSO Booster Organization Scholarship. The application must be completed in full and submitted to Mr. Katz no later than:

Monday May 1, 2017 @3:00 pm

The MRHSO Booster Organization Executive Board has established the following guidelines regarding the application process and selection criteria:

  1. The recipient must be a current senior in the MRHS Orchestra
  2. Scholarship granted will be according to the amount provided for in the MRHSO Booster Organization Budget.
  3. MRHSO Booster Organization Scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee created by the MRHSO Booster Organization. The 5 person committee will be selected from Board Members, MRHSO Directors, MRHS Administrators & MRHS Faculty Members.
  4. All applicants must participate in an interview with the scholarship selection committees on May 12, 2017 at 7 pm (note: if more than 5 students submit applications for the MRHSO Board Scholarship, the field may be narrowed to 5 candidates based on the quality of the application as determined by the Scholarship Selection Committee. These 5 applicants will then advance to the interview round of the selection process.
  5. All applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA
  6. The scholarship award will be announced at the Orchestra Banquet on May 25, 2016
  7. Scholarship checks will be issued to the educational institution designated by the recipient. It is up to the scholarship recipient to provide the committees with proof of enrollment at the designated educational institution for payment to be processed. The deadline for payment of the scholarship recipients is one year from the date the scholarship is awarded.

Application Requirements

Scholarship nominees must enclose the following information for their application to be considered complete:

  • High School Transcripts (including an explanation of scoring system)
  • Three letters of recommendation from individuals (Teachers, Administrators, Outside School Reference) other than MRHS Orchestra Directors
  • Completed 2-3 page personal statement (see application)
  • Completed 1-3 page original essay (see application)
  • Completed certification page signed by applicant and parent.

**If an application is found to be missing any of the items listed above, the application will be considered incomplete and the applicant will forfeit their entry into the evaluation process**

Scholarship Criteria

Scholarship recipient will be selected based on merit. The following criteria will be used to determine which applicant will be awarded the scholarship:

  • Service and Participation in the MRHSO Program
  • Essay Response
  • Future Educational Goals
  • Future Participation in music performance activities
  • Previous Academic Excellence
  • Letters of Recommendation

This application will remain confidential. Any material submitted become the property of the MRHSO Booster Board and will be returned only upon written request.
