Dear Kindergarten Families,

I can’t believe 2017 is almost here! I hope you have an enjoyable holiday and a great start to 2017!

Reading – We will be learning about the following letters this month: Ee, Hh, Uu, and Bb. We will continue to work with word families. We will also be learning about telling/asking sentences, plurals, medial sounds, the contraction let’s, and reading with expression. Our January sight words are: like, he, we, of, she, said, & have. It is important that the sight words are practiced nightly. The students should be able to look at each sight word and read them quickly…… memorization is required. Please continue to work on your child’s reading roll daily. There are 29 sheets in all.

The students are doing a great job with their Monday reading folder. Encourage your child to reread the books and blending sheets over and over to build their confidence and reading fluency. Thank you so much for your help!

Math – We will work on learning our numbers beyond 20. We will learn to name, recognize, count, write, compare, and order numbers in sequence. We will also work with estimation and tally marks.

Themes –Winter, Nursery Rhymes, & Martin Luther King Jr.

**Please remember to check your child’s binder and return it to school daily. Also, please remember to send jackets, snow pants, hats, mittens, boots, and tennis shoes with your child every day. Thank you for your help with this!
