Dear Eliot Elementary Parents,

I hope you are enjoying your summer with your family. As you know, during the last four years Eliot has made incredible improvement. Last year we met Texas Education Agency standards and we were recognized and awarded two Distinction Awards by TEA & Houston ISD. Eliot was recognized as one of the top schools with most progress. This is all thanks to our teachers and to your support. Without parental support our students cannot succeed. Thank you for your continued support.

We will continue to focus on maintaining a safe and orderly environment in our school. Our teachers will be returning to our campus early to begin their professional learning studies, focusing on instructional approaches that will inspire our children to value learning, think and respond critically, and creatively. We are a Leader in Me school and our students will continue to learn and apply leadership skills.

We will continue to host our APTT teacher parent meetings. To begin, I am asking that you be prepared to partner with us in increasing the academic progress of your child by doing the following:

1. Limit the amount of television watching or electronic devices each day

2. Make sure that your child is well rested by having a set bedtime each evening

3.Monitor your child’s reading and writing at home (Each child will be expected to read and write at least 20-30 minutes each day outside of school); they will also be expected to complete their Math/Science homework

4.Attend all APTT meetings or required conferences to discuss your child’s progress and performance with his or her teachers

This year, uniforms will not change, students are required to wear their khaki pants/skirts/shorts with Eliot’s logo shirt or with a polo royal blue shirt. We will sell Eliot’s polo shirt, or you may also purchase a royal blue polo shirt and students can wear their royal blue polo shirt without the Eliot’s logo. All students must wear their khaki pants or skirts. Our Eliot’s logo shirts are beautiful and we will sell them on August 21-Meet the Teacher Day- and Open House-Sept.15 (PK-2nd & Sept. 17 3rd-5th).

We will be reinforcing 100% compliance with our school uniform policy as a part of our efforts to improve the learning climate and safety of our school.
