New Program- need your support:
Ms.Rajeswari, who is a blind working as a teacher introduced to Asha during intercolligate blind conference. As a teacher and job selection committee member, she found that blind students are struggling very much due to lack of English for joining colleges as well as getting jobs without basic english.
Most of them are belong to rural areas coming from poor family background. Being blind person, getting a job is a difficult task. Now a days, language like english is must for everybody. For blind student, english language become a hurdle t! o get jobs.
Ms.Rajeswari want to do spoken english program for two months for the blind students at Asha home (Asha honor providing space to conduct the classes) proposed and requesting funds from Asha to take up a program on spoken english class for the blind students going to complete XII from various schools and few college students to train them in how to carry themselves in different situations. This kind of program brings out confident to face many things.
Program Details:
Program begins: 8th April - 7th June 2006
Resource person: Prof. Sagadevan, Dept of English, Presidency College.
Students attendees: 30 students from different schools and colleges
Venue: Asha home (T-58A, 32nd Cross street, Besant Nagar, Ch-90
Class hours: Two hours daily (10.00am-12.00pm)
Funds needed:
Honorarium for two months Rs.1000x2 Rs.2000
Tea for all the children daily Rs.25x60 days Rs.1500
Transportation charges Rs.1000
Maintenance Rs.500
Total Rs.5000 ($116)
