1.7.Future Plan of QEC

  1. Director QEC briefed the participants about the importance of Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC).He told the participants that most of SARs received do not contain survey forms and asked for their inclusion in SARs; so that feed backs received through survey forms can be used to improve quality/standards of education. Participants were told to prepare Self Assessment Report (SAR) for each programme separately which are been taught in their institute / department / college i.e;Bachelors, Masters, M.Phil & Ph.D etc. Moreover, the requirements of financial resources / infrastructures / facilities can be identified in SAR and can be demanded through Implementation Plan. The participants were invited to ask questions related to the problems faced during self assessment activities.
  2. Group discussion started with the participants and it was agreed that departments can assess themselves through Self Assessment Report (SAR). The participants were asked to mention all those problems, which they feel are hurdles for improvements in educational systems in their SAR so that these can be eliminated and addressed with the help of HEC and the top management of PU.
  3. A slide of Table-1 consisting of the performance of the Faculty was shown in order to elicit the reasons for non-implementation by certain departments.
  4. All the participants agreed upon the evaluation of teachers by the students and further that only those students should participate in teacher’s evaluation that have at least 80% class attendance. It was agreed that teacher evaluation forms are not to punish the teacher but to guide the teacher to improve his way of teaching.
  5. Participants discussed that there is a need to have softwarewhich could be used for analyzing enormous data obtained through survey forms. They were told that QEC is working in collaboration with IT Centre to develop such asoftware and as soon as it will be available; it will be circulated to all the faculties. It was also agreed that the survey forms for Alumni and employers etc can be sent via e-mail in order to save time and resources.
  6. It was agreed among the participants that quality enhancement process startsfrom the top management like Dean, Director and Registrar’s offices and only then it can be applied in true sprit.
  7. The participants were told that institute / department / college / centre can evaluate their own standing with the help of scoring of criterion items using Rubric format which was circulated on the meeting day (20-12-2010) to all the program team members.
