Emmaus of the Midlands

2016 Walks

October 13-16 , 2016, Men

October 20-23, 2016, Women

Would you like to be sponsored for Walk to Emmaus?

What is Walk to Emmaus like?

You will enjoy three days of singing, learning, laughing, worshiping, reflecting, praying and participating in small groups. Discussions center around fifteen talks given by laity and clergy. These talks present the theme of God’s grace, how that grace comes alive in the Christian community and how it is expressed in the world. You’ll also discover how grace is real in your life, how you live a life of grace, and how you bring that grace to others.

You will have the opportunity to participate in the daily celebration of Holy Communion and to understand more fully the body of Christ. You will experience God’s grace through prayers and acts of anonymous service offered by the Emmaus community. You will leave with an experience of Christian love in action that will equip you for new levels of grace-filled service and leadership.

To get involved in Emmaus, each person must have a sponsor who already attended Emmaus him or herself. If you have a friend who has been to Emmaus, ask your friend to tell you about his or her experience with the program. Your friend can help you decide whether or not you would find an Emmaus experience helpful.

“Operation Clean Sweep”

Ten thousand volunteers are needed to clean up Orangeburg County’s trash on October 15, 2016. Orangeburg County has nearly 1,350 miles of paved roads and 900 miles of dirt roads. Operation Clean Sweep wants to clean up EVERY road in the County in ONE DAY. We want to make our County an example of community pride. We can be an example to the state. Imagine if our initiative inspired more cities, counties and even other states to clean up – we all win! Go to “cleanupsc.org” to register. For group, put St. Paul’s UMC. Select area one to clean up. Invite your family and friends to join our group. Spread the word to any groups, schools, other churches, or organizations to get them involved also.
