ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PRESIDENT
Key Responsibilities
· Lead Association
· Represent ASE at JCI Conferences/Congress, Senate Area Association Board meetings, Joint Senate Boards meetings and other events
Specific Duties and Responsibilities of President
ASE Board
· Chair meetings including AGM
· Develop Budget with Hon Treasurer and Deputy ASE President for the following year
· Agree draft and final agenda with Hon Secretary
· Agree minutes with Hon Secretary prior to circulation to the Board and placing on web-site
· Confirm vision and objectives for the year in office and assignments /special responsibilities for Board members
· Monitor progress against objectives and provide support to Board members
· Organise workshop (s) / training / team building events for Board members
· Assist and support incoming President and Deputy President as necessary
Joint Senate Board
· Represent ASE at Joint Senate Board meetings (usually at World Congress)
· Produce ASE Annual Report in conjunction with IPP for Joint Senate Board & JCI.
· Inform Secretary of Joint Senate Board of any agenda items to be included from ASE Board and produce any papers appropriate for meeting
· Propose candidate for Joint Senate Board ‘Senator of the Year’ Award
Communication
· Produce Presidents’ article for each European Newsletter
· Produce Presidents’ article for E Bulletin
· Produce articles / short messages for ASE Website
· Produce short messages for European Conference Brochure and World Congress Brochure (if WC in Europe)
· Liaise / attend other Area Senate Organisation Boards/ AGM meetings
· Maintain regular contact with ASE Past Presidents forwarding agendas, reports etc and other information as necessary.
Liaison with Key JCI Senators
Ensure that a dialogue is maintained between ASE and:
· JCI Officer responsible for JCI Senate (currently Earl Sawyer)
· JCI Joint Senate Boards Secretary (currently Mary Sawyer)
· JCI World Senate Chairman
· JCI Presidents of Area Senate Associations in conjunction with ASE Ambassador
· Other key JCI officers eg JCI World President, JCI European Senate Presidents/Chairman
