Dance Team Officer Application

If you have been a member of the SMCHS Dance Team for at least one year, you are eligible to apply for a Captain position. We are looking for twohard-working, dedicated, outgoing individuals who have the ability to lead a team. As a student leader you must be willing to follow all rules and guidelines of the team as well as the school, and conduct yourself in a positive manner at all times in order to be a role model for the team. Interviews will be held on Thursday, May 30thafter school in Mrs. Blonigan’s office. In order to prepare for this interview, answer the questions below in a written format, submit them, and be prepared to discuss them in your interview.Your answers do not need to be long, but they must be well thought out and meaningful. Interviews will take approximately 15 minutes each and will be scheduled in the order applications are received.

Please turn in your answers to the questions below by Tuesday, May 28th.

  1. Why do you want to be a Captain?
  2. Describe a previous Dance Team situation that you felt had a negative affect on the team. How would you have acted as a Captain in that situation to avoid or resolve the conflict?
  3. Knowing when to talk to Mrs. Blonigan and Ms. Rayburn is essential for the success of the team. In your opinion, when is it necessary to involve the coaches and when is it necessary to work things out independently?
  4. What is one thing you would change about the previous year and why? Be honest; your answer may help to improve our experience in the coming year.
  5. Unity is the key to having a successful dance team. What did you learn from the previous year concerning team unity and how would that affect the way you approach team unity this year as a Captain?
  6. What can the Captain do to help team members stay focused during practice?
  7. In your opinion, what is the most important responsibility of the Dance Team Captain?
  8. What is the one goal you have for the team next year (other than team unity) and how do you propose we go about achieving it?
  9. What ideas do you have to assist Mrs. Blonigan and Ms. Rayburn in cleaning routines and working towards a unified team style?
  10. Can gossip be avoided among a team of girls? What can you do as a Captain to help combat this problem?

Dance Team Officer Auditions

Unity Leaders

If you have been a member of the SMCHS Dance Team for at least one year, you are eligible to apply for a Unity Leader position. We are looking for hard-working, dedicated, and spirited individuals who are willing to put in extra time to promote team unity. As a student leader you must be able to follow all rules and guidelines of the team as well as the school, and conduct yourself in a positive manner at all times in order to be a role model for the team. Interviews will be held on Thursday, May 30thafter school in Mrs. Blonigan’s office. Please do the following to prepare for this interview, and submit your materials by Wednesday, May 29th:

Answer the questions below in a written format (typed). Your responses do not need to be long, but they must be well thought out and meaningful.

Make a poster-board display describing a unity goal you have for the upcoming season (use decorations, pictures, etc. as you see fit).

Be prepared to discuss these things in your interview.

  2. Describe a previous Dance Team situation (pertaining to team unity) that you felt had a negative affect on the team. What did you learn from this situation? What could you do to keep this from happening again?
  3. Unity is the key to having a successful dance team. How do you plan to avoid cliques, make new members feel welcome and keep the team unified overall?
  4. Can gossip be avoided among a team of girls? What can you do as a Unity Leader to help combat this problem?
  5. List three ideas you have for activities and or events that can be done at practice, or outside of practice to promote team unity.

Please submit these questions no later than Tuesday, May 28th.
