JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:
The cycle counter will take direction from the Inventory Control Auditor/Manageras to content of work and tasks to be performed, which will include conducting daily cycle counts, location audits, and recounts as required to verify on hand quantities and identify inventory inaccuracies within Max. In addition, the Cycle Counter will conductKanban audits to identify lost cards and replenishment issues in production. Because Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) is a key facet of Empire’s continuous improvement program, the cycle counter will conduct research as directed to assist in the resolution of the root causes of inventory inaccuracies.

The Cycle Counter will, under the direction of the Inventory Control Auditor / Manger, perform the following tasks as assigned:

  1. Conduct and submit daily cycle counts for review and reconciliation.
  2. Conduct inventory recounts.
  3. Conduct daily location audits and recounts.
  4. Conduct Kanban audits and recounts.
  5. Red Tag inactive or obsolete parts.
  6. Research inventory inaccuracies such as transfer errors, unit of measure conversions, bill of material discrepancies, and vendor counts per package.
  7. Count and retag containers of parts as required at the end of production runs for specific models / model families before the parts are put back into storage.
  8. Retag items counted with the correct part numbers, quantities, unit of measure, and date counted if the existing tags are incorrect. Report any incorrect tags to the Inventory Control Auditor/Manager who will address the issue with plant management.
  9. Actively participate in the annual physical inventory.
  10. Assist with training additional count team personnel.
  11. Assisting the inventory team with implementation of projects and initiative.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

The position of a cycle counter is a support role to production. The tasks that are performed ultimately need to be about what is best for the team and goals of the organization.

Job Requirements:

1.General knowledge of how a unit is assembled in production, sheet metal and subassembly fabrication processes, and repair and scrap reporting procedures. This includes understanding the basic work flow, the key areas of assembly throughout the line, and being able to identify parts that are provided by internal fabrication or subassembly areas.

2.General knowledge of the work order process for both parts and finished goods. Includes at what point start and completion scans are performed, and when backflushing occurs.

3.Basic Max knowledge including the basic function keys, commands, and how to use summary availability, bill of material.

4.The cycle counter will need the assistance of a licensed material handler as necessary to move containers from rack or line storage to hand count or weigh as required.

5.Participation in annual physical inventories (if necessary) is mandatory for all inventory control personnel. Considerations will be made for special circumstances.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work independently as well as possessing the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Must possess proficient PC skills. Must be able to use a keyboard and have basic PC skills aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of MAX is desirable.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and follow standard work instructions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds manually on a frequent and repetitive basis.
  • This position does require a high degree of physical labor. Applicants should be able to walk, stand, bend, lift, twist and move objects frequently and repetitively throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to apply basic math skills and accurately record counts.
  • Must possess attention to detail as it pertains to accurate counting as well as solid decision making skills.
