A. INSPECT LIST CONTROL SYSTEM:
1. What is the condition of the list control pump(s)?
- Pump foundation was corroded.
- Pump gland seal leak-off exceeded 60 drops per minute. / Ref (D)
2. What is the condition of the tank suction and discharge valves and operators?
- Valve(s) was corroded.
- Valve(s) was not labeled per DC Book or DC Plate.
- Valve(s) hand wheel was missing. / Ref (E)
3. Were the system gages functional and calibrated?
- Gauge was INOP. (Or was the SMARTCARRIER MCS List Control Panel INOP)
- Gauge leaked.
- TLIs/gages were not calibrated. / SIB

B. TEST LIST CONTROL SYSTEM:

1. Cycle list control valves to align flow path to list control tanks.
- Pump valve failed to open or close remotely.
- Valve motor operator was INOP.
- Tank valve failed to cycle open or closed.
- Tank valve position indicator was INOP. / Ref (a) S-1

2. Operate the list control pumps from the list control panel.
- Pump(s) failed to start/secure from the list control panel.
- Pump failed to produce 30 psi discharge pressure.
- Pump was INOP. / SIB

3. Align system and transfer list control water athwartship until there is positive indication of list control tank level change on the associated TLIs.
- Tank TLI(s) were INOP / SIB

Note: The List Control System test should not result in any appreciable change in the ship’s current list. As soon as positive tank level change is noted, flow should be secured and the level change reversed or list effect corrected. Prolonged list control flow is not expected during this test, therefore, flow duration should be limited and actual list should be monitored at all times.
