PRINCIPAL MARTIN'S MESSAGE
Let’s Finish Strong
You can often hear me encouraging everyone about this time of year to “sprint through the finish line”. As summer approaches there can be a tendency for some to let up and lower expectations. At Sinsheimer, our staff prides itself on finishing strong. If we do any classroom countdowns to summer, they are only positive and help us create a sense of urgency to accomplish all that we set out to do before summer hits. I encourage everyone (students, staff, parents, and myself) to do their best to the very end this year and finish strong!
I want to congratulate all of the students and families who have made positive attendance a goal for them this year. I track attendance closely and know that several students have shown significant improvement compared to last year. For those families who have reinforced strong attendance, know that you are establishing a foundation for your child’s future success in college and career. After all, showing up, whether it is at school or on the job, is the first step toward success. On another related note, it was shared recently that Sinsheimer teachers are among the top in the district with their attendance at school. As we know, teachers make a huge difference and having them at school consistently each and every day is a major factor in your child’s success.
I calculated our truancy data so far this school year and came upon a startling statistic. Remember, according to Education Code, a student is considered habitually truant when they have 3 or more unexcused absences at any time during the school year. To date, we have 113 students out of 398 total who have at least 3 or more unexcused absences, the vast majority of which are from family vacations. I will be the first one to tell you that I believe in quality family vacations. However let’s finish strong and please try to keep your children in school and align all vacations to our summer break which officially begins on June 9th. With everyone’s effort we can still reach our goal of 96.5% attendance this year. Thank you for all that you do to help us help your kids!

Office Project
As you may have seen, our district maintenance team is replacing the exterior wall to my office and conference room. The team will be doing less work on this project during the week instead saving the big work for the weekends when fewer people will be impacted by noise, and flying dust and debris. Thank you for your patience as our maintenance department ensures that we can work in a safe environment.

1st graders take a break from their hard work to enjoy a popsicle.

Attention Sinsheimer Parents- Watch those lunch account balances!
The school year is winding down and as we approach the last day of school it is very important that we end the year in the clear on our lunch balances. Please be sure to keep your child's lunch balance paid in full or even showing a credit by the end of the year so we can end the year without a defecit showing. Please be aware that if y our child has an overage in their lunch account it will carry over into the new school year to be used later.
Thank you so much for your help!
State Testing for 3rd through 6th Grade
The testing window for CA State Tests is April24th through May 24th.
Parents can help their children to be more prepared by making sure they get a good night sleep and eat a good breakfast each day and by making sure to schedule appointments outside of the testing window.
Thank you for your help!

Enrollment for 2017-18

Also please let us know if you have a sibling that will be attending next year.
