Addendum

1. In accordance with article 34 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Secretary-General invited the States parties to the Convention to submit their nominations by 3 May 2010. Information concerning 19 of the persons nominated is contained in CRPD/CSP/2010/CRP.1 and five additional nominations received contained in CRPD/CSP/2010/CPR.1/Add.1. One additional nomination has been received, as follows:

Nahid Mohamed Khairy (Sudan)

Date of birth: 22 August 1959

Date and place of birth: January 16, 1959 in Tougue (Republic of Guinea)

Working Languages: Arabic, English and French

Current position/function:

•  - Parliament Member

•  - Teacher at Al-Nour Institute for the Blind

•  - Social Worker

•  - Member of the Sudanese National Association of the Blind (SNAB)

•  - Training teacher in special education and in “Braille” methods of teaching pupils with disabilities in schools and universities.

•  - Consultant for several schools and universities such as the University of Khartoum and Al Milein University on the needs and teaching methods of disabled students.

Main professional activities:

- Enlightening legislative bodies in different states about the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities.

•  -Observing the implementation of the convention in different states.

•  -Encouraging different countries to ratify the convention on the rights of disabled persons.

•  -Training members of the organizations of the African Union of the Blind on Leadership and management.

•  -Raising awareness about the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities.
