Part-time Cook

Critchley House, Swinton

Age UK Salford has recently acquired and refurbished Critchley House In Swinton which is a modern, bright and welcoming drop in social centre and cafe. We provide a local, accessible one-stop-shop offering information and specialist services.

Our pleasant and friendly community cafe currently offers a limited range of quality refreshments however we are planning to improve and expand our service by providing a range of healthy, nutritious, hot and satisfying meals in our 5 star food hygiene rated cafe where people can meet new friends or relax and read a newspaper.

We also plan to provide weekly cooking classes especially encouraging older men to participate, this to both promote well being and encourage healthy eating.

In addition to providing an informal setting where older people can meet we will also facilitate formal and informal learning sessions and our IT suite offers intergenerational opportunities as well as formal learning sessions.

We are looking to recruit a cook to run our community cafe. This employee will be responsible for supervising the preparation of breakfast and lunch, training, supporting and supervising a team of volunteers, ordering, maintaining food safety standards and maintaining records.

This post also supports the charity to promote health and wellbeing including providing weekly cookery classes and working with our gardening project which grows produce for the kitchen.

Applicants must be enthusiastic, reliable, energetic, positive, flexible, creative and non-judgemental with experience of working in the catering industry and supervising trainees or volunteers.
