Cover Letter for Travel Nurses

As a nurse who is seeking a travel or contract position the cover letter provides you the opportunity to let the staffing agency know exactly what type of assignment you are looking for. It is also a way to answer the questions that they usually ask when they call you.

Here are some things you may want to include:

What shifts you are interested in working.

What length of assignment you are look for.

What units you are interested in working in.

Years of experience in each specialty

Amount of travel or contract experience you have

Minimum amount of compensation you need

Type of housing you need and if you will be traveling with pets, children, spouses, or partners.

The states you are licensed in and whether or not you have a compact license.

The minimum hours you want to work per week.

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am an experienced travel nurse with 3 years of travel nurse experience. I am seeking a 13-26 week travel assignment in either Arkansas or Iowa. I have a valid RN license in both. I am available to start an assignment on January 1, 2010. My specialties are ICU, ER, and MS. Although I have MS experience I would prefer to work in an ICU or ER unit. Further I would prefer to work a night shift and have a block schedule of four days on and three days off. I am available to work weekends to help accommodate this. I prefer 12 hour shifts but am willing to work 10 hour shifts.

I will be traveling with three dogs and a partner, so I will need a two bedroom apartment on the first floor or a house while on assignment. Since I have pets I will be driving to my assignment, so I will not need travel arrangements made for me.

I can be reached on my cell phone between 8:00AM and 3:00PM to discuss further details.

Sincerely,

John Smith, RN
