Principles of Hospitality and Tourism

It is important to understand many different components of the Hospitality and Tourism industry. In this project you are taking on the role of “travel agent.” You will create travel arrangements and an itinerary catering to the needs of your customer while staying within the budget provided.The followingare the requirements for this project.

  • Create a vacationfor your client based on the client profile you are assigned and present in Power Point or Brochure format.
  • Provide a detailed expenditure report on attached form.
  • Provide a detailed daily itinerary on a word document.
  1. Power Point/Brochure- Summative Grade Include the following information:
  • Name and Picture of Destination: Include the name of the destination and time of year for travel. Make sure to include your original travel agent’s name and agency.
  • Travel arrangements: Include specific flight, car, bus or train information. (prices, times, mileage)
  • Destination Information: Why is this destination a GREAT place to travel? What does a traveler need to know about etiquette or customs of the culture/area before they travel? What documents do you need in order to travel to the destination if out of the US?
  • Lodging Information: Hotel, Condominium, Campsite, etc. ( Include specific location, price, & amenities)
  • Selected Attractions with Descriptions: Include pictures of the attractions you choose for your client along with a brief description of each. What is it? Where is it located? Cost? Historical Significance?
  • Selected Restaurants with Descriptions: Include a picture or logo from the restaurants you select for your client (at least one per each day of trip). Write a brief description of the type of food served and an estimated cost.
  1. Itemized Expenditures- Formative Grade

Using the form provided, include all components (transportation, lodging, recreation, restaurants, etc.) of the trip along with the price of each and then total. This lets your client have an idea of how much the trip will cost and why. (Make sure you stay within your budget.)

  1. Trip Itinerary- Formative Grade

Create a daily itinerary for your client. Include travel times;departures/arrivals, times to check-in/out of the hotel, time allotment for recreation/attractions. Make sure you provide for some flexibility. Each day will need an activity and at least one restaurant. This should include also include the travel agency name and look professional.

Ex. Sunday- Leave DFW airport at 10:00 A.M. and arrive in San Diego at 1:00 P.M.

Check into Holiday Inn at 3:00

Dinner at hotel at 6:00

Monday-Sea World, park is open from 10:00 A.M. - 10:00 P.M. Lunch at park

Tuesday-10:00-3:00 Day at the beach, 7:00 Dinner Reservations at Del Frisco
