Additional readers/short stories/articles may be used throughout the year

• Emphasis is placed on the exclusive use of Spanish, which increases the vocabulary base of the students. This is a highly conversational driven approach. The emphasis is immersion.

The Ultimate Spanish Review and Practice workbook will be used upon completion of Descubre 2

We will complete as many chapters as time allows and will continue the workbook in Spanish IV and V. This includes an intense Spanish grammar review as well as a guide to new grammatical structures and tenses.

• The subjunctive mood will be highlighted throughout the course.

• Various compositions will be assigned. Topics will be given based on aspects of culture, history and themes related to the topics encountered in class.

• Various films will be viewed in class that are directly related to the countries, cultures and histories discussed. The Official Story, Evita, Voces Inocentes and Cautiva are some but not all of the possible movies that may be shown.

• Current events are used throughout the year to guide discussions and may dictate changes in the lessons based on the importance of events.
