Care Agreement
This is our standard adoption contract that must be completed and signed by anyone wishing to adopt an animal from the VSPCA. Please remember, our number one concern is for the animals, and we strive to place them in the best, loving, forever homes.

Adopter’s Agreement
· I agree that the animal is being adopted for myself and will not be sold, adopted, or given to another party.
· (If adopting a cat) I agree that I will not declaw the cat.
· (If adopting a dog) I agree that if I have to tether my dog, the tether will be a minimum of 12 feet long in a comfortable, shaded, and contained area. The dog will be a companion animal.
· I will not breed my adopted animal and, if it is not yet spayed or neutered, this will be done as soon as it is appropriate to do so, usually 5½ - 6 months.
· I agree to care for the animal in a humane manner. This includes supplying adequate nutritious food, clean/fresh water, shelter, attention, and medical care.
· I agree that if at any point I cannot keep the animal, I will return him/her to the VSPCA.
· I understand and agree that the VSPCA makes no guarantees about the animal’s temperament and is not responsible for future unforeseen health problems.
· I give the VSPCA permission to visit the animal to ensure his/her welfare. VSPCA will arrange a mutually convenient time for such visits.
· I agree to keep the VSPCA informed of my current home address and phone number/s.
I agree that all the conditions above have been read and understood by me.
I understand that failure to uphold the above conditions will jeopardise my ownership of the animal.
