2008-2009 INTRAMURAL SPORTS

PROGRAM - GENERAL INFORMATION

ELIGIBILITY

  • All full-time McGillUniversity students are eligible to participate. McGill staff and alumni who have purchased a Sports Complex Membership may also compete in intramural activities.
  • Once an individual has played for a team, they become a permanent member of that team. An individual may play for only one team and at one level, per sport.
  • Players are required to present their McGill identification card to the timer prior to each game. Failure to comply with this rule will prevent the individual from participating in that game.

HOW TO ENTER

TEAM SPORTS

Individuals are encouraged to form their own teams. Teams may come from the same faculty, department, residence or any other group. Captains must enter their team by completing the registration form, and paying the entry fee in the Client Services Office (G-20C) before the entry deadline. Teams are takenona first come first served basis. Forms may be obtained from the Athletics website -

INDIVIDUAL SPORTS

Participants in individual sports may enter by paying the entry fee in the Client Services Office (G-20C).

CAPTAINS’ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completing and submitting the team entry form at the Client Services Office before the entry deadline.
  • Paying the team entry fee at the Client Services Office (G-20C)prior to the entry deadline.
  • Submitting scheduling restrictions by the registration deadline.
  • Reading the rules & regulations that govern the intramural sports program, and being familiar with the specific rules of the sport.
  • Having enough players to field a complete team for each game throughout the season.
  • Appropriately filling out and signing the game sheet before and after every game (even defaults).
  • Keeping in touch with theleague coordinator via email, and forwarding correspondence to their team mates.

PLAYERS’ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowing the policy regarding ID cards.
  • Knowing the rules of the sport.
  • Providing equipment unless supplied by the league.
  • Knowing the appropriate schedule of games.
  • Reading all the rules and regulations governing the intramural sports program.

AWARDS

All eligible members of championship teams in the competitive and intermediate divisions will receive an official McGill Intramural Championship Mug or T-shirt. The recreational divisions are strictly reserved for individuals looking to participate in a non-competitive setting.

INJURIES

McGillUniversity assumes no responsibility for injuries incurred during intramural activities. First-aid treatment for minor injuries is provided at the Winsor Clinic located in the Fieldhouse of the McGill Sports Centre.

PARTICIPANTCONDUCT

The intent of the Intramural Sports Program is friendly competition. Self-control and proper conduct are required at all times. Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated and may result in suspension from further participation in the program.
