Course Syllabus/Procedures

Fall 2017

Grades 10-12

1 semester, 1/2 credit

PREREQUISITE: Computer Applications

INSTRUCTOR: Mrs. Karen Irvine

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to familiarize students with the creation and management of web pages and web sites. Students will learn basic html structure and formatting, web page creation using html and Dreamweaver, and image creation and alteration using Photoshop and Fireworks.

LEARNING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

·  Apply introductory principles.

·  Demonstrate image creation and manipulation skills.

·  Design an effective web site.

·  Demonstrate page creation skills.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Daily Work: Classwork and Homework

Quizzes and Tests: Announced quizzes and tests will be given.

Work ethics: You will be evaluated on skills that are essential to being

successful at school or work.

Absences: Punctuality and attendance is very important. Because most of the

classwork is software specific, you will need to come in before and

after school or during seminar (if you are not assigned to a specific

core area for assistance) to make up work missed or if you need

more time to complete projects. Zeroes will be entered until work is completed, per school policy.

Late Work: Late work may result in a 0 or a penalty for that assignment.

Portfolio: Keep notes, samples, and graded work.

Supplies Needed: BRING EVERY DAY:

·  Pen and Pencil

·  Loose-leaf notebook paper

·  Folder with pockets (not needed if you already have your binder)

·  3-ring binder for Portfolio & 5 page dividers

·  3 x 5 cards

·  Good positive attitude!

EVALUATION: You will be evaluated on homework, classwork, quizzes, tests, work ethics, and portfolio. Total points will be used.

If you are not able to complete the jobs assigned during class, you may work during seminar (if no tutoring is required) or come in before or after school.

Copying or sharing assignments or other academic dishonesty will result in a 0 on the assignment. School district guidelines for academic dishonesty will be followed.

You will be required to sign the Technology User Agreement before using the school technology. If your user agreement would be revoked, you will not be able to complete the demonstrations or assignments for this course, which would result in a 0 for those assignments.
