Council Meeting held at 27,25-27 Parkhill Way Wilson on Monday 25th August 2014

2.Minutes of previous meeting 28/4/14 confirmed moved

3.Matters arising: The matter of the Perth Chess Club’s Affiliation has been resolved and the club has registered its members and paid the ratings fees due.
After several attempts to get some information in regards to the inter school competition,there has,so far,been no information come back from the schools.CAWA to follow up. Action/President
4.In the absence of the Treasurer,the Secretary gave a short report on the state of CAWAs reasonably healthy financial position .
L.Carolin-Unkovich pointed out that there was still some money owing by Haydn Barber from the 2013 State Championship.Haydns brother Wayne to be contacted about this matter. Action/President
5.ACF: Bill Gletsos,ACF Ratings Officer,requested from CAWA Ratings Officer R.Maris that birthdates be included with members other details.

Tristan Boyd is the CAWA Representative on the ACF Council
6.Perth Club are currently running the Perth Club Open Tournament
The Metropolitan Club Open was won by Ishan Ferozkohi.
G.Dunlop to put a proposal together to hold our inter-club competition over 2 or 3 Sundays towards the end of October and dropping the Kingsley Open Action G.Dunlop
After some discussion it was decided to have a reasonable amount of prize money for the WA Open. Prize list to be included on the entry form.
7.Junior Chess: With the small number of volunteers available to the Association it has been difficult to get any State Junior events organized so far this year.N.Muller to investigate the possibility to hold the State Junior in the October holidays. Action/Secretary
8.General Business : It was pointed out that unlike in previous years the Association was not receiving any funding from the Department of Sport and Recreation and that it would be nice if we had a sponsor.After some discussion ,no conclusion or resolution was reached.Maybe our members can give this some thought before the next meeting and include this as an Agenda Item.
WA Sports Federation should get some information on some of our activities and programes Action /W.Leonhardt and N.Muller
W.Leonhardt informed the Council on the combination of German and Chess in school programs in Europe.There may be an opportunity to introduce something like that here. W.Leonhardt to investigate.
M.McGregor would like to know what to do with a rather large A3/A4 photo copier.Check to see if it can be sold. Action J.Klimczak and M.McGregor
