BACKGROUND :
A rare opportunity has arisen for a fixed term contract (up to12 months) position of Corporate Social Responsibility & Communications Manager
MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
• Develop and execute the integrated internal communications plan, based on an agreed strategy.
• Align the global and regional communications strategy and key messages with the needs of the Australasian employee base.
• Provide news stories to regional and global communications teams on a regular basis.
• Provide internal communications support to the Australasian Executive and Leadership Team in line with key business deliverables.
• Build and protect Unilever’s reputation and develop the Unilever brand and Vitality mission internally and externally. Embed the concept of Vitality in the business.
• Keep employees informed of internal and external developments impacting their business unit and provide a context for understanding the implications.
• Work with the Corporate Relations & Communications Director to proactively identify and manage potential issues and issues related to brand activities, and monitor the external environment.
• Manage internal communications in crisis management/product recall incidents. Assist with reactive corporate responses to the media, and provide external communications support.
• As a permanent member of the Unilever Australasia Foundation, develop and execute its strategies.
• Develop of existing Foundation initiatives, ensuring ongoing employee support
• Assess new Foundation initiatives, providing recommendations to the Foundation Committee.
• Ensure the Foundation is continually promoted and developed within the organization
• Develop proactive stories around Unilever Australasia’s community and environment initiatives for an external audience.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, networks and contacts.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Development of messages, content and delivery of regular communications, including, the Unilever Australasia Magazine, the Portall (company intranet), unilever.com.au and other message forums.
• Building the profile of the Corporate Relations Department internally and increase the awareness of, and access to, the services available.
• Support of the Communications work stream on implementation of One Unilever messages and in realising the required cultural change outcomes.
• Monitoring the strategic relevance of messages and regularly updating content of intranet and internet.
• Provide story ideas and written content for company magazine, as a member of the Unilever Australasia Magazine editorial team
• Provision of coaching, support and feedback to Leadership Team and Executive on communication skills and strategies.
• Regular measurement the effectiveness of communication.
• Support the activation of employee Vitality programs.
• Position Unilever as a leader in CSR and Community & Environment initiatives with other business leaders and external audiences.
• Lead the Unilever Australasia Foundation committee with recommendations for practice and policy.
• Guide the Foundation Committee in providing governance to company, including brand, social and environmental initiatives.
• Develop networks with other internal communications and CSR practitioners across Unilever internationally.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in communication field required- either marketing, internal comms or journalism.
• Additional experience in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) would also be highly valued
• Excellent communication skills- ability to both write and speak succinctly and with conviction;
• Confidence in dealing with senior management and external stakeholders;
• Broad view of the external world- external orientation;
