The Log Book: Carving an Artist
Creating an artistic practice requires cultivating the seeds that make us who we are. My story is my foundation; it is unique to me – as your story is to you. This exhibit represents the discovery of my authentic self and artistic voice. Author Talk with Terry Fallis

Collingwood Public Library is launching a new Author Talk Series. The series brings popular Canadian authors to Collingwood for an hour of discussion followed by a book signing. The fall series runs from September to November with one author each month. Terry Fallis – September 19 at 7pm Kamal Al-Solaylee – October 24 at 7pm Deidre Kelly – November 28 at 7pm The event is free for attendees with light refreshments provided. The Collingwood Trails Network Photo Contest
Call for Entry
In advance of the celebration of 25 years of trails in town, the Collingwood Trails Network is holding a photo contest and inviting the submission of images featuring Collingwood’s trails. The winning photograph will appear on the cover of the 2014-2015 Collingwood Trails Network Map, second and third place winners will appear inside the map. In addition, the first place winner will receive $250, second place will receive $100 and third place will receive $50. The top five photos will be featured on the Town of Collingwood website and displayed at Skelton Galleries, Collingwood. Deadline: Friday, Jan. 31, 2014

Central Park Arena Art Display

The Town of Collingwood is seeking submissions of professional artwork suitable for temporary display in the lobby of the new Central Park Arena from October 2013 to March 31, 2014. The Central Park Arena is currently being constructed and is scheduled to be open to the public in October 2013. Submissions for this exhibition are best suited to large-scale works that are completed or in progress and slated to be complete prior to the installation date. The selected artist will receive an exhibition fee.
Selection process: Submissions will be reviewed based on suitability for the location, aesthetic appeal, durability and quality. In the event that no submissions resulting from this call are judged to meet the project, the Town reserves the right to re-issue the call or consign a local artist for the opportunity.
