Content : THE URGE TO COMPLETE THE UNFAIR DISMISSION OF
1.300 WORKERS ON PT. PANARUB DWIKARYA
Dear,
1. TOSHIAKI MIZUNO ()
Senior Deputy Manager of Office President, in Japan
2. MR. TAKAHASHI YASUSHI ()
CLD SSGM-Mizuno Corp. In Japan
3. TADASHI BEPPU ()
Senior Deputy Manager for CSR
(name of organisation) located in (Address/location of your organisation) sends this letter to you to support the workers’ struggle against PT. Panarub Dwikarya, a struggle that has lasted over 3 years until today.
Through this letter, we remind the Mizuno Group, that until present, your business partner Panarub Group has not solved the unfair dismissal of 1,300 workers in July 2012. Although the workers are surviving, they have nothing, as their rights have been violated by the Panarub Group, who have not given them their due wages and compensation. Panarub Dwikarya Benua (PDKB) has not operated since 2013, but it does not mean that PT. Panarub Group, as the parent Company of PDKB, is not responsible to fulfil the rights and provide compensation to the 1,300 surviving workers of PDKB.
The Mizuno Group as a buyer and business partner of PT. Panarub Group has not been taking this case seriously, resulting in a long delay to provide a fair solution for the 1,300 PDKB workers. This shows that Mizuno does not respect the labour rights of the workers who produce Mizuno products. In our view, Mizuno is responsible to resolve the unfair dismissal of the 1,300 PDKB workers.
On the description above, and the long drawn out case of unfair dismissals of 1,300 PDKB workers that has been running for more than 3 years, (name of organisation) demands that the Mizuno Group immediately:
1. Respect the workers’ labour rights: pay the workers wage arrears that they were owed on July 2012 and the wages when they were unemployed between August 2012 and December 2013 for the surviving workers.
2. Provide severance payment in accordance with Indonesian law to all the surviving workers.
3. Compensate workers for immaterial losses, for example in cases where workers’ children were forced to drop out of school, where workers’ lost their homes or were evicted by the owners of the rent houses because they could not afford to pay rent, or when a worker (Maesaroh) was unable to obtain medical care from the hospital and died due to the termination of the health insurance by PT. Panarub Group.
Accordingly, we hope the Mizuno Group give serious attention to resolve the unfair dismissal of the 1,300 PDKB workers, respect labour rights, whether in the name of humanity or as a form of corporate social responsibility that Mizuno Group embraces as an international company.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
Best Regards,
