Teacher will show key concepts about adding and subtracting rational numbers (like fractions) using guided problems on p.70-71. Student will answer Independent Practice p.73.

Pair Discussion- Have students draw 3 oranges and cut each one into fourths. Have them trade their solutions with another student. Discuss this as a class if they found any difference of opinion.
