Job Title:Fundraising & Events Coordinator

Salary: / Starting salary £21,000. Thereafter on completion of a full year’s employment, on 1 April rising by £500 annual increments to £24,000.
Conditions: / 25 days annual leave pro-rata rising by one day per year to 30 days.
5% contribution to a personal pension plan on satisfactory completion of probation period.
Hours: / 35 hours per week, flexible by negotiation, worked over Monday
to Friday with provision for flexible working hours in line with Ataxia UK’s policy. Some out of hours work may be required for which time off in lieu will be granted.

Reporting to: / Fundraising & Development Manager
Staff reporting to the post: / Volunteers and interns as necessary
Purpose of job: / To organise and support fundraising and other events on behalf of Ataxia UK

Principal Responsibilities:

Events

  1. Coordinate arrangements for national programme of fundraising events and International Ataxia Awareness Day events.
  1. Assist with the development and support of Branch and Support Group fundraising events.
  1. Handle incoming enquiries regarding fundraising events, advising supporters about fundraising ideas, rules and regulations.
  1. Recommend events for additional support.
  1. Prepare and issue authorisations for fundraising activities, sponsorship forms, fundraising and PR materials.
  1. Oversee and administer London Marathon spaces, running events, treks and parachute jumps, and other similar events, providing support to participants as necessary.
  1. Assist in Ataxia UK’s Annual Ball, Scientific Seminars and other events as requested.

Fundraising

  1. Handle all incoming enquiries regarding fundraising, advising volunteers colleagues and other supporters about fundraising ideas, rules and regulations;
  1. Assist with Trust fundraising as required
  1. Issue and control collecting tins and fundraising authorisations;
  1. Promote and administer the Chance to Win club and quarterly draws;
  1. Write letters of thanks to Friends and donors as required
  1. Assist with direct mail appeals;
  1. Administer merchandising
  1. Update fundraising forms, material stocks and information packs as required;
  1. Gather and provide fundraising information, articles and photographs for a range of media including ‘The Ataxian’ magazine, the website, Facebook etc
  1. Contribute to special fundraising initiatives
  1. Administer and apply direct debits and standing orders adding to RE and sending to Rapid Data.
  1. Cleanse and update the database as required.

Volunteers and Interns

  1. To manage volunteers and interns engaged in fundraising and events activities.

Helpline

  1. Participate in the Extended Helpline Team

General

  1. Attend supervisions and staff meetings as required
  1. Undertake professional development and training.
  1. Attend Ataxia UK conferences (and those of partner organisations) and give presentations as required.
  1. In all areas of work ensure that due attention is given to legal and compliance issues such as health and safety, data protection and risk management
  1. Share in general office duties.
  1. Share essential office administration duties as required.
