Article l: Article Name and Purpose

We shall be known as Cedar Creek High School National Honor Society – CCHS NHS – voted in on October 9th, 2012

CCHS NHS Dues – Initial members (inducted in the spring semester) pay a $10 new membership fee by the end of the year of induction. All members pay $10 in dues a year to cover office supply expenses. This may be collected throughout the year and may be paid in increments of $5 each semester. If a student is finding it financially impossible to meet this requirement, it is his/her responsibility to talk with the chapter advisor. Voted in on November 6th, 2012

Article Vlll: Membership

To be a member in good standing, members MUST maintain a 90% and above average (no rounding up) voted on and confirmed on 9-3-15. GPA’s are checked every semester. If a member is below GPA expectations, he/she has the following semester to bring the GPA back up above a 90. If the the GPA does not meet the standard when the next semester GPA report is ran, the student will be terminated. Seniors must meet standard the for the fall semester. There is no time to work on the GPA and have the GPA ran before graduation. Members are required to attend monthly meetings, complete community service hours and participate in at least 1 group project per semester. Voted on October 9, 2012. Please see Article XVII for current information (voted in on 11-20-15) regarding group community service guidelines.

Article lX: Selection of Members

CCHS NHS - Must have a cumulative semester average of 90% the fall semester of the sophomore or junior year. Voted and approved on October 9th, 2012. Grades will be reviewed at the end of each semester. Members must complete and submit an application by stated deadline in invitation. Documented community service and leadership roles will add merit to the application.

Article X: Discipline and Dismissal

All NHS members are expected to follow the student code of conduct and be a role model to peers. Any student with a major infraction, requiring removal from campus will be terminated. A student receiving a termination notice may request, in writing, a hearing regarding reinstatement.

Article Xl: Chapter Officers

CCHS NHS – student officers must have senior status the school year he/she is in office. Chapter officers are voted in their junior year.

Community Service Chair is nominated and voted upon by the NHS sponsors and board.

Article Xll: Executive Committee

Article Xlll: Meetings

CCHS NHS – meeting attendance is mandatory unless excused by chapter sponsor. Voted in on October 9th, 2012. Students may have 1 unexcused meeting absence in the fall semester and 1 unexcused in the spring semester. More than the stated number of unexcused absences will be cause for probation with possible termination for failure to comply with the meeting rule. All requested excuses MUST BE SUBMITTED at least 24 hours in advance, unless it is an emergency. Permission to be excused must be requested in writing using your student email account.

Article XVll: Amendments

1)Community Service Hours Documentation:

Summer Hours – 18 hours all students

Fall Semester – 12 hours required all students

Spring Semester – 12 hours Juniors and 3 hours (passed March 2013) for Seniors.

*Each member is required to participate in at least 1 scheduled group community service project per semester. Hours garnered in the group project will be counted towards the number of required volunteer hours each semester. Failure to participate in 1 group semester project is grounds for termination.
