Connecting with Citrix

To the Whitfield Network

Whitfield offers people that have been provided usernames and passwords the ability to connect to Whitfield’s network from any computer with an Internet connection. This connection provides users most applications available at school, as well as the ability to save to the school’s network. This connection is made available through a technology called Citrix.

To connect to Whitfield from a remote location:

Ø  Connect to the Internet and open a web browser (example: Internet Explorer or Netscape)

Ø  Type the following web address into the address or location bar: http://access.whitfieldschool.org and press enter or click “Go.” Or Click the “Community Login” link from our homepage and choose “Citrix Access.”

Ø  You will see a screen that looks like the box below. You may want to add this to your favorites or bookmarks.

Ø  Login using your username and password. You will be presented your available applications as seen below. (Continue to back page)

FIRST TIME ONLY: Click on the link to Download the Citrix Presentation Server Client. You will likely be presented a link to Open, Run or Save a file. Click Open or Run. This will guide you through the brief installation of the Citrix client. Once you are done, close your web browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) and open the program again. Note: Firefox is preferred for Mac users

Ø  Go back to the Citrix login page either by choosing the bookmark or by typing http://access.whitfieldschool.org into the address or location bar.

Ø  Type your Whitfield network username and password into their respective locations and click “Log In.”

Ø  You will then see a screen offering the applications available to you.

Ø  The first time you launch an application, you will be asked to allow Citrix access to your local drives. This allows you to move files from your personal computer to and from the Whitfield network. When asked, choose to give Citrix full access and choose “never ask me again.”

Ø  Despite being on a computer at home, you will find all Whitfield drives available, when selecting Open from the File menu of any application.

You should be running your Whitfield application on your home computer now. If you have further questions, please contact Alex Inman, Director of Technology, at 314-415-1298 or
