Announcing:
An All New and Exciting Midrasha Program
Featuring:
Course #1: September 12- November 21
Substance and Sustenance-A Guide to Jewish Food
When Jews celebrate there's food. When we mourn there's food. For nearly every Jewish holiday, Jews have associated some type of food. But why? And how does what we eat identify us as a people, religion, and culture? In this course, we'll examine the history and tradition behind everything from apples and honey to chopped liver.
Course #2: December 5- February 13
Kabbalah – The Jewish Mystical Tradition
Madonna made Kabbalah famous, but there were many great Kabbalists before her. In this course, you’ll venture down the Kabbalah time line and meet the major players. You’ll learn how Kabbalah depicts our universe as four distinct worlds, what a Kabbalistic relationship with G-d consists of, and how we can use Kabbalistic tools to find our own true selves.
Course #3: February 27 – May 15
Jewish Identity Through Film
The movies are a mirror into our consciousness, and Jews have a long history behind and in front of the screen. In this course, we'll look at how Jews are represented, and discuss how those representations shape both our own culture and how others view us.
Sign Up for one, two, or all three courses. All courses will be held on Thursdays from 6:15 -8:15. The Midrasha class begins with dinner, prepared on a rotating basis by the students’ parents, and provides opportunities for socialization with other young Jewish adults and in-depth discussion of topics that may have only been touched upon throughout the years of Religious school.
Tuition: One Course- $200. Add a second course for $175. Add a third course for only $125.
I hope many of you will join us for this innovative educational experience. Fill out your registration form and return it to the office to secure your place.
