Highest availability under extreme climatic conditions

For demanding climatic conditions, the new series OT115 and WT205 cold-climate terminals are the ideal addition to the cold-climate modules of the Bachmann M1 automation system. The sealing of the modules guarantees safe operation even with condensation present, and a special touchscreen ensures reliable operation.

Using operating equipment at low temperatures is not only a problem because of the unavoidable condensation on the electronics. Ordinary commercial touchscreens with a front-side film are not suitable for operation in a humid environment. The cold-climate terminals from Bachmann therefore use a so-called glass-on-glass touchscreen that allows reliable operation even with condensation on the front side. The glass surface also provides the new terminals with a high degree of scratch-resistance, and allows them to withstand salt water as well as a number of sometimes quite aggressive chemicals.

The TFT displays with LED backlighting that are used by Bachmann can be operated reliably in the temperature range from -30°C to +60°C. Due to the measures that were taken, the storage temperature range runs from -40°C to +85°C. A salt spray test conducted by TÜV Süd and passed according to DIN EN 60068-2-52 confirms that the WT205 CC functions reliably even under extreme conditions. A spray fog of a saline solution and a relative humidity of 93% were not able to harm the device.

The cold-climate terminals were developed for use under extreme climatic conditions: For offshore or ship installations on the high seas, and for systems that are installed in climatic zones with high humidity or considerable temperature differences between day and night.
