Notes:This Practical Assignment assesses the student's knowledge of how a Spreadsheet program such as Excel can be used. It tests his or her understanding and practical skill of normal everyday operations of a spreadsheet program.

The Assignment consists of approx. 20 basic tasks and the total time allowed to complete it is 60 minutes.

Flannerys Wholesale supply boxes of jeans to a number of shops in the Dublin area. The spreadsheet below shows the number of boxes delivered to ten different shops over three days:

Carry out the following tasks:

  1. Open the spreadsheet program Excel ..
  2. Enter all the details into a new spreadsheet.
  3. Saveit to My Documents and call itBOX1.
  4. Printthe spreadsheet.
  5. Sortthe shops in alphabetical order.
  6. Align Rightthe names of the shops.
  7. Deleterow 6 - 'Just In'.
  8. Deletecolumn 4 -'Wed'.
  9. Inserta new row between 'Flannerys Wholesale' and 'Shop'.
  10. Inserta column between 'Shop' and 'Mon'.
  11. Enter in CellB2 the words 'PriceperBox'.
  12. Enter in Cell B3 the figures '34.53' and Format to Currency
  13. Enter in CellB11 the words 'Total per Day'.
  14. In Cell C11,use the AutoSum functionto ADD the Total number of boxes delivered to all the shops on 'Mon'.
  15. Copy and Paste the formula into CellD11.
  16. Enter in Cell E3 the words 'Average per Day'.
  17. In CellE4, use the PasteFunction to calculate the Average number of boxes delivered to 'Bewleys' shop.
  18. Fill Down the formula for all the other shops.
  19. Enter in CellA13 the words 'OverallTotal'.
  20. In CellB13, use the EditFormula functionto ADD the totals for 'Mon' and 'Tue'.
  21. Enter in CellA14 the words 'OverallCost'.
  22. In CellB14, use the AutoSum functionto MULTIPY the 'OverallTotal' by the 'PriceperBox'.
  23. Format the answer to Currencyto 2 decimal places
  24. Merge and Centerthe heading 'Flannerys Wholesale'.
  25. Save the spreadsheet As a new name, BOX2.
  26. Printthe spreadsheet.
  27. Change the number of boxes sold to 'Stax' on 'Mon' to 46.
  28. Change the number of boxes sold to 'Galligans' on 'Tue' to 75.
  29. Save the spreadsheet As a new name, BOX3.
  30. Printthe spreadsheet.
  31. Closeall open documents.
  32. Exitthe spreadsheet program Excel.
