CITY, STATE. September 4, 20--. Follow the format shown here for all press releases. Use the official company name and address at the top of the page. Use 1-inch top and side margins. Center the company name and address at the top of the document. Key the words "PRESS RELEASE" in all caps and bold at the left margin. Key the current date in month, day, year format (September 7, 20--).

Key "Contact:" at the left margin, followed by the name of a contact person. Key the address and phone number of the contact person on the following lines. Be aware that the contact person may not be the same person who writes the release.

Center the title of the news story in 14-point bold type. Make the title both descriptive of the story and interesting to draw attention to the press release.

Key the location and date tag at the beginning of the first paragraph. The tag identifies where and when the story takes place. Key the city and state in capital letters. List the date of the story if it is different from the date of the press release. After the date, key a period and then start the message.
