General Manager

CSP are currently looking to recruit a General Manager at Sandown Park Racecourse. TheGeneral Manager will be fully accountable for CSP’scontracted service provision at Sandown Park Racecourse, ensuring delivery is to the highest possible standard with the ‘customer journey’ in the forefront of planning and execution. The contracted services include 24-hour security and concierge,cleaning andportering; and event stewarding and security, cash & audit, and traffic management/car parking. The General Manager must ensure that each of these services function to agreed performance levels and within defined budgets at all times.The exemplorary service levels required will reflect the Jockey Club Racecourse (JCR) brand and values, and work in conjuction with CSP’s own ethos of developing and maintaining Caring, Safe and Professional working practices.

Sandown Park Racecourse is the location for CSP’s Centre of Exellence and BICSc training and assessment centre, and the CSP General Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of this facility, working alongside the Regional Cleaning Manager to ensure that the facility output is optimised.

The CSP General Manager will work closely with the JCR racecourse staff, and will be included within ‘the team’ whilst also being encouraged to challenge existing practices for the benefit of all clients, guests and staff members. The role will also receive support from CSP’s Head Office as and when required, but specifically in all areas of HR, training, payroll, staffing etc.

The positionwill be based at a Sandown Park Racecourse but would from time to time be required to work at the other London Region Racecourse venues and also to assist at the larger racing Festivals and events. The role may also occassionally be required to attend meetings/training at CSP’s Head Office in Watford.

This role reports to the Head of Operations.

With your experience and knowledge your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key contract stakeholders
  • Full responsibility for the integrity of the site, and all its security requirements
  • Full responsibility for the site presentation 365 days of the year
  • Accountability for the operational planning of soft services for all events
  • Accountability for the operational delivery of soft services for all events
  • Lead and manage the waste management approach by site
  • Full responsibility for CSP staff in terms of recruitment, induction, training, reward and performance management of those operating on site
  • Responsible for managing all financial aspects of the contract at the venue, both internally and externally
  • Operational planning (working with JCR teams and CSP Head Office for larger events)
  • Overseeing the booking of all core staff, creating rotas and supporting teams, ensuring the best possible team members are on site at any given time

Requirements

  • Must display the highest professional standards of operation
  • Must be customer service driven, with a good understanding of guest requirements and what it takes to deliver a ‘five star’ experience
  • Must be competant in managinglarge, diverse teamsefficiently and effectively
  • Must create a climate in which people want to do their best, accessing each individual’s strength; promote confidence and positivity by inspiring and motivating the team
  • Must be able to establish positive working relationships with both CSP head office and Jockey Club colleagues
  • Must demonstrate a thorough approach to work and be able to organise themselves and team members effectively
  • Must be an effective project manager, able to co-ordinate tasks to deliver an event smoothly
  • Must have proven experience in managing budgets and previous PL accountability
  • Must have excellent communication skills, allowing for effective communication with all key stakeholders
  • Must be an effective team member with flexibility and willingness to take on roles outside his/her normal remit when required
  • Must be willing to adopt a flexible working timetable/environment given that this role is in the leisure industry
  • Must have good IT skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Education to degree level (or an equivalent level qualification) is preferable
  • Proven experience and a record of success within an operational delivery environment
  • Experience of managing or organising events within the leisure industry would be beneficial
  • Proven management experience is essential; managing teams within the relevant disciplines (security and cleaning) would be an advantage
  • A sound understanding of Health and Safety. A recognised qualification (IOSH or equivalent) would be beneficial
  • Proven experience of building and managing strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence
