COMP Cams® Expands IMCA Sponsorship For 2012

Memphis, TN − For the 2012 season, COMP Cams® has expanded its involvement with the IMCA sanction to include more awards for drivers and their respective engine builders.

The 2012 racing season will mark the tenth year that Memphis-based COMP Cams® has been involved with the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) as a part of the sanction's required decal program. While COMP Cams® is proud to again be a sponsor of several of the IMCA divisions, including Open Wheel Modifieds, Late Models, Hobby Stocks and Sport Mods, the company is equally proud to announce the addition of sponsorship for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division. Drivers in all divisions are required to display two COMP Cams® decals on their race car to become eligible for shares of point funds and contingency awards.

In exchange for displaying the decals, the national champions in the IMCA Modified, IMCA Late Model, and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car divisions, and top finishing claim engine drivers in national IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMod national standings, along with their respective engine builders, all will receive $250 in cash and $250 in product certificates from COMP Cams®. Those certificates may be applied toward any COMP® purchase.

The Engine Builder Challenge was established five years ago, with the cash awards added last season. Checks and product certificates from COMP Cams® will be presented to drivers during the national awards banquet in November, and mailed the following week to engine builders.

“The addition of COMP Cams® to the Stock Car required decal program is a testament to the company’s continually increasing dedication to racers in all sanctioned divisions,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “The totality of the COMP Cams® program is pretty extensive and that commitment to IMCA racing will be very visible this season.”

“The Engine Builder Challenge is a COMP Cams® exclusive in 2012,” he added, “and it will be interesting to track which engine builders are at the top of our national standings.”

COMP Cams® Director of Marketing, Chris Douglas, echoes Yoder's sentiments on the program by noting, "The IMCA sanction has literally thousands of racers across the nation, and these racers represent the backbone of motorsports. In addition, the engine builders who produce the power plants for these cars are equally important, and it means a lot to COMP Cams® to be able to recognize the drivers and engine builders for their great accomplishments."

COMP Cams® has also renewed awards based on final regional standings for Open Wheel Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, as well as awards for national standings in the Late Model, Northern SportMod and Southern SportMod divisions.

The top five eligible drivers in each of the five IMCA Open Wheel Modified regions receive COMP Cams® product certificates in $300, $250, $200, $150 and $100 increments.

In addition, the top three prizes for national IMCA Late Model and regional IMCA Stock Car drivers will receive COMP Cams® product certificates in the amounts of $300, $200 and $100.

COMP Cams® product certificates of the same value go to the top three claim engine drivers in both Hobby Stock regional standings and national standings for the two SportMod divisions.

Meanwhile, another $500 from COMP Cams® is earmarked for the top finishing driver with a claim engine in the Northern SportMod main event at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Cenex at Iowa’s Boone Speedway.
