4. Economic and Community Development, Corporate and Cultural

Services and Human Resources.

(a)Presentation of certificates to “Pride of Place” representatives

“That the Council ask The Minister of Education to direct Bus Eireann to rescind the decision to increase bus fares for school children going to secondary school due to the present financial climate”

“That this Council calls on the Minister for Finance not to reduce

Social Welfare payments in the upcoming Budget.”

Councillor Paul Connell.

“To call on the Minister for the Department of Community and Gaeltacht Affairs, Mr. Eamon Ó Cúiv, to double the numbers on the Rural Social Scheme from 55, as exists at present, to 110 to provide opportunities for those unemployed who have suffered because of a lack of Government investment in the County.”

5.Infrastructural and Environmental Services.

Roads:

(a) Notice of Motion submitted by Councillors, as listed hereunder:

Councillor Luie McEntire - deferred from October meeting.

“That this Council contacts the Department of the Environment,

Heritage and Local Government to ensure that there is no change

regarding the system already in place for roads being submitted by local Councillors to the Department, and not allow the National Roads Authority the final decision.”

Councillor P.J. Reilly.

“I request Longford County Council to reconsider their decision of not purchasing an area of ground at Moxham St. Granard for public car parking.”

Councillor MicheálCarrigy.

“I propose that Longford County Council carry out a review of the

Public Lighting Programme which is not due to finish until 2013.”

“I propose that Longford County Council carry out a review of all

public facilities at Churches etc. to ensure that Disabled Parking places

are provided at all these sites.”

Environment:

(a)Notice of Motion submitted by Councillor F. Kilbride.

“What is the up-to-date position on my Notice of Motion from the

October meeting regarding licenses for solvent usage.”

6.Housing, Planning and Building Control and Emergency Services.

“I would like an update on the Rathbeg Estate in Abbeylara with regard to being taken in charge and on what measures the developer is putting in place to alleviate the odours from the sewage system in place.”

Councillor Alan Mitchell.

"That this Council receive a report on the current status of the proposed Clondra Area Plan and a timeframe for its adoption"

“That this Council request the Housing Directorate to carry out a review of the Differential Rents Scheme with a view to making the following amendments:

(a) That the calculation of rent be based on 17.5% rather than 22.5%

(b) A disregard equal to the amount of the Social welfare rate for a

dependant child for each dependantchild residing in the dwelling

with current allowance of 65c per week being discontinued.

(c) The maximum rent ceilings be reduced.

(d) That calculations of rent be rounded down to the nearest 50c

(e) A scheme of discounted rent for dwellings in certain housing

estates."

Social and Family Affairs regarding the Family Resource Centres in

Ballymahon and Granard.

(b)Letter dated 23rd October 2009 received from the Office of the Minister

for Justice, Equality and Law Reform regarding the official opening

of Granard Garda Station.
