Our Mission

“The Global Citizen Mentoring program has been established in response to a need for providing academic, social and cultural guidance to international students within the College of Human Sciences. The goal of this international mentoring program is to promote an understanding and appreciation of different culture, background, and religions and viewpoints.”

How the Program Works

Students interested in the program must fill out and submit an application to or to the CHS Office of International Programs in 131 McKay Hall. You must provide your academic advisor’s information as a reference. Information on the application process, follow-up informal interview, and orientation will be provided through email soon after receiving the application.

Requirements

  • Must be a student within the College of Human Sciences;
  • Must have completed at least one semester at Iowa State University;
  • Must be a domesticstudent;
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Commit 1-3 hours every 2 weeks to the program including events or huddle meetings. If selected, complete required trainingand events;
  • Be outgoing, friendly and have an ability to facilitate conversation;
  • Have an ability to plan and organize outings for huddles;
