College Algebra/Advanced Algebra

Mrs. DeAngelo

Welcome to College Algebra/Advanced Algebra! I look forward to teaching you this year and helping you learn mathematics.

College Algebra/Advanced Algebra is usually a required college class that you can receive high school and college credit for when you complete the class. If you have had Algebra II and Geometry, then you have the prerequisites for this class.

We will follow the syllabus for College Algebra from MississippiDeltaCommunity College. We will meet three days a week during seventh period. We will discuss solving various equations and word problems. We will graph and find solutions.

Students will need notebook paper and pencils every class meeting. Calculators would be very helpful, and I suggest you bring some type of calculator to class each day. A graphing calculator is preferable.

All handbook rules apply to this class. Students must also turn in all work. If a student is absent, he or she must make up their work. The student must ask the teacher for the assignment. If the student knows that he or she will be absent in advance, it would be best to get the assignments before missing. Students are expected to turn in missed work the following class meeting.

Rules:

Students must bring their book, pencils, paper, and homework to class each day. Students are tardy to class when they are not seated in their assigned seats when the bell rings. Everyone in the classroom is to be treated with dignity and respect. All school rules will be followed in the classroom. Students must be recognized before speaking or moving about the room. There will be no loud talking. Students are to be prepared to begin class as soon as the bell rings. Students may not go to their lockers or to the restroom during class time. Students are not to touch anything on or in the teacher’s desk, the air-conditioner controls, or the telephone without permission. All students must participate in class activities. Students are expected to raise their hands to ask questions. Students are not to chew gum, eat, or drink in class.

Tutoring:

ALL STUDENTS CAN COME TO ME FOR TUTORING DURING BREAK OR AFTER SCHOOL WHEN I AM NOT ON DUTY. I WILL BE GLAD TO WORK WITH STUDENTS INDIVIDUALLY WHEN THEY NEED ME.
