Special Board of Education Meeting Minutes
Monday, April 7, 2008
President Hamilton called the meeting of the Board of Education of Coal City Community Unit School District #1 to order at 6:00 p.m. at the Coal City Middle School Community Room. Members answering roll call were Armand Bianchi, Mary Gill, Curtis Grove, Mark Jiskra, Ken Miller, Robert Pogliano and Shawn Hamilton. Superintendent Kent Bugg, Director of Business Services Jason Smith, Curriculum Director Tammy Elledge and Karen Vota were also in attendance. Other members of the audience included Principals Miller, Brovont, Johnson, Associate Principal Rutkowski, Dean of Students Spencer Ann Zafran, Jane Provance, Tiffany Stewart and Cristin Bernstein as well as member of the press Ann Gill.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
President Hamilton led the Board of Education and others present in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
CLOSED SESSION
Mr. Jiskra moved and Mr. Grove seconded to go to closed session at 6:01 p.m. for the purpose of considering information regarding personnel.

When the board returned to open session President Hamilton called the special meeting to order at 6:08 p.m. with the board members answering roll call present: Armand Bianchi, Mary Gill, Curtis Grove, Mark Jiskra, Ken Miller, Robert Pogliano and Shawn Hamilton.
ACTION AS A RESULT OF CLOSED SESSION
1. Ms. Gill moved and Mr. Grove seconded to approve the employment of Marcella Martinez as Spanish Teacher at the High School for the 2008-2009 school year, pending satisfactory completion of all state requirements.
Roll Call.
Ayes: Mary Gill, Curtis Grove, Armand Bianchi, Mark Jiskra, Ken Miller, Robert Pogliano, Shawn Hamilton

2. Mr. Jiskra moved and Mr. Miller seconded to approve the employment of Josh Quigley as Kindergarten teacher at the Early Childhood Center for the 2008-2009 school year, pending satisfactory completion of all state requirements.

3. Mr. Grove moved and Mr. Pogliano seconded to approve the employment of Amy Aichele as Kindergarten teacher at the Early Childhood Center for the 2008-2009 school year, pending satisfactory completion of all state requirements.

4. Mr. Miller moved and Ms. Gill seconded to approve the employment of Anna Nygard as Kindergarten teacher at the Early Childhood Center for the 2008-2009 school year, pending satisfactory completion of all state requirements.

5. Mr. Pogliano moved and Mr. Grove seconded to approve the employment of Todd Painter as Kindergarten/First Grade Social Studies/Science teacher at the Early Childhood Center for the 2008-2009 school year, pending satisfactory completion of all state requirements.

6. Ms. Gill moved and Mr. Miller seconded to approve the employment of Rachel Prendergast as .8 time Art teacher at the Early Childhood Center for the 2008-2009 school year, pending satisfactory completion of all state requirements.

7. Mr. Jiskra moved and Ms. Gill seconded to approve the employment of Veronica Aldridge as Spanish Aide at the Elementary School for the 2008-2009 school year, pending satisfactory completion of all state requirements.

8. Ms. Gill moved and Mr. Jiskra seconded to approve the transfer of George Hanson from Day Lead Custodian at the Middle School to Day Lead Custodian at the Elementary School effective July 1, 2008.

9. Mr. Pogliano moved and Mr. Jiskra seconded to approve the transfer of Kim Teague from Custodian at the High School to Night Lead Custodian at the Elementary School effective July 1, 2008.

10. Mr. Miller moved and Ms. Gill seconded to accept the resignation of Nancy Wynn as copy clerk for the Elementary School, effective immediately, and to thank her for her years of service to the district.

Ms. Gill moved and Mr. Jiskra seconded to adjourn at 6:13 p.m. the special meeting. President Hamilton asked if there was any opposition to the motion, hearing none considers the motion approved.
