6Assessment report: At the May 20, 2008 curriculum committee meeting, the following recommendation on SLO assessment was approved: within 4 years of SLO approval need to start assessment.

7Curriculum report: At the May 6, 2008 Department Chairs’ Council Committee meeting, the following was recommended: Curriculum Policies and Procedures: Dr. Burke-Kelly urged the Deans to work with their respective Department Chairs to plan to update out of compliance courses that do not meet the six year update period. All courses that are out dated prior to 2002 should be submitted to the Curriculum Committee no later than December 2008. Those out dated from 2002 should be submitted no later than May 2009. In September 2008, departments will receive a new list of required updates for 2003. For courses which have not been taught in a long time, including 99 courses, archiving might be a solution to consider. Also, any new course that is submitted to Curriculum has an airing period of one year. On another note, Dr. Burke-Kelly requested that the Dep’t Chairs for English, Comp. Science, and Accounting submit records of Distance Learning approval to the Curriculum Committee immediately, in order to submit it to the Commission of Accreditation as soon as possible. Lastly, she suggested that all Dep’t Chairs carefully review course and schedule descriptions for grammatical errors, since many of them are grammatically incorrect.

8Maria Reisch report: nothing goes to Senate for approval until corrections are completed.
