Go Play Rugby Action plan and feedback

  1. Local Newspapers contact and publicising our annual charity event (in aid of Staffordshire Air Ambulance) proved to be a great advert for the club. We did not recruit any new players directly through this campaign, but it raised our profile in the local community.
  2. Advertising and holding our 25th Anniversary (again in support of Staffordshire Air Ambulance) within the local community attracted a number of “ex players” back to the club and reignited a few interests. Probably our main path of recruitment bringing a number of old Boys back from retirement and back from other clubs.
  3. Local leaflet drop to village and surrounding areas seems to have had an influence and has certainly helped us recruit a few individuals who have never played rugby before. These are in the main coming for training but not yet registered as players. Potential for future of club though.
  4. We have resurrected our Veterans and have scheduled in a number of games throughout the season. This keeps the wave of enthusiasm going and as the games are scheduled through the year people can plan their schedules to fit.
  5. A number of “key” individuals have rejoined the club and have brought colleagues or additional players with them. The recruitment process appears to be critical if we get the right individuals down to the club who are willing to go out and recruit alongside all of the other campaigns that are being undertaken.
  6. We are now having some success on the pitch and this is a real recruitment tool. We are finding interest is greater now we have a few wins under our belt and we are attracting a few additional supporters who are spreading the word.
  7. 2 New sponsors for the club 1 for 1st team kit and one for equipment. Potentially 2 more for 2nd/ vets team kit and general merchandise (Casual Shirts etc.) Always good to get club name noticed when out in town.
  8. A number of Local Pub crawls after games have raised our profile in village community and always good to get out to meet potential new players and get their details.
  9. Club has purchased its own Mobile phone and all members / players have regular updates “texted” throughout the week. This again keeps individuals updated on the progress of the club.
