CLASSES AVAILABLE FORALLHEIGHTS AND LEVEL OF DOGS INCLUDING DOGS 15 MONTHS OF AGE AND OVER

RULES – 2009/10

JUMPHEIGHTS

9” for dogs less than 12” at the shoulder

12” for dogs 12” – 15” at the shoulder

17” for dogs 15” – 17” at the shoulder

Any dog standing higher than this will jump 24”

The ONLY exceptionto this are the “Golden Oldie” and the “Capability” classes: where the jump height will be set at the owners discretion: but will be no higher than 17”.

Each dog may only be entered in to ONE height category, and may not enter at a lesser height than as specified above. (excepting “Golden Oldie” and “Capability “classes).

GOLDEN OLDIE

The “Golden Oldie” classes are for dogs over 8 years of age, that do not compete at any other level (“Veteran” and “Any Size” classes excepted). These dogs may not enter any other classes. Dogs 8 years of age or over may continue to compete in their respective level should the handler feel they are able.

The “Golden Oldie” courses will be flowing and will not contain any weaves and there will be no see-saw in the agility class. Any clear rounds for these classes will be extra special – there is no set course time.

CAPABILITY

The “Capability” classes are for dogs who do not compete at their specified jump height and are too young to be eligible for the “Golden Oldie” classes. The classes are also for baby dogs of 15 MONTHS up to 18 months, as a “beginner” experience. See above for regulation regarding jump height. The classes are also for dogs at the beginning of their career. Again, there will be no set course time.

GUNDOG TROPHY (Teal and Albie)

We continue to present the above award. It is now dedicated to Teal and her son Albie who, as many of you know were owned by Dragon herself. Both were fantastic Black Labrador’s, Teal was an excellent worker although she was far above agility and Albie was class clown in every way and had a lovely smile. This will be awarded to the highest placed Gun Dog throughout the entire series of shows and will be presented on the day of the last show for the 2009 series which is likely to be early December 2009. PLEASE MARK ON THE ENTRY FORM IF YOU HAVE A GUN DOG (open to all breeds of Gundogs and gun dog crosses e.g Springer x Lab (Springador) or Springer x Cocker(Sprocker).

The winner of this award will receive an engraved shield to hold on to until December 2009 and a keep sake trophy and rosette. There will be trophies to 3rd and rosettes to at least 5th.

GOLDEN OLDIES LEAGUE

We are again also offering a “Golden Oldies” league. The trophy has been sponsored by “Delinquent Dogz” member, Maxine Segall and is in memory of “Kali” – her very precious and loving little Collie girl. Again the trophy will be awarded at the last show of the 2009 series. Maxine will also award rosettes 1 – 3.

POINTS STRUCTURE FOR GUNDOG LEAGUE AND GOLDEN OLDIES LEAGUE

Points will be awarded in each league as follows:-

1st place 15 points, 2nd place 10 points, 3rd place 5 points. Clear round in any agility/jumping class 2 points.

LEVELS

Handlers totally new to competition may compete at either Capability or Level One. Capability classes offer a competition environment minus the weaves or see saw (as well as the tyre, we do not use the tyre in any class at DD). Level One classes may contain the see saw and weaves. Once you have decided to go into Level One you should stay there for a year (season). You can decide for yourself when you and your dog are ready to “come out” of Capability and go into Level One. The exception to this being if show management feel that the dog would be more than capable in Level One, in which case we may move you up.

For the more experienced handler we offer the opportunity for any “newbie” dog who has to compete at KC Grade 3 by virtue of another dog’s win to compete with DD at Level One for their first year. Dogs may, at the discretion of the owner, move the “Newbie” dog up level/levels during the year, or may continue competing at the lowest level for one year. However should the show management deem it necessary, it may move the “Newbie” up to another level. You are not permitted to move the dog back down level(s) once you have progressed.

Any older more experienced dogs (who have been competing successfully at KC Grade 3 or above for more than a year) should enter Level Two classes.

Any dog competing at Grade 4 or 5 should enter Level Two classes, Grade 6 & 7 dogs should enter DD Level Three.

ALL CLASSES (EXCEPTING GOLDEN OLDIES & CAPABILITY) WILL BE RUN TO THE FOLLOWING CLASSIFICATIONS;-

KC Regulations (2007 version) / DD Regulations

Grades 1 to 3

/ Level One
Grades 4 and 5 / Level Two
Grades 6 and 7 / Level Three

Any dog, with the exception below gets up to 4 runs per day (3 during the winter shows). The only exception to this are “Golden Oldie “ dogs who get 2 runs a day, agility and jumping and may run the Helter Skelter during the winter shows.

Dogs must be at least 15 months of age to compete at any of the shows.

Competitors enter at their own risk and must sign and date the declaration on the entry form. If this is not signed before the show for any reason then it must be signed before the competitor takes their first run. NO exceptions to this.

In the unlikely event that any of these events are cancelled, the organisers reserve the right to deduct unrecoverable expenses incurred before returning entry fees.

reserves the right to combine/split class awards dependent on entry levels.

request that all competitors give some of their time to help run the ring(s).

Please respect the venue and pick up after your dogs, and also dispose of all rubbish responsibly in the wheelie bin provided.

It is possible (and permissible) that the judge may set the same course for “Golden Oldies” and “Capability” classes.

Directions to venue

J1 M18. Follow signs for Maltby down to first roundabout. Turn around as though you are going to go back to the motorway. There is a Douglas Paul 4 x 4 garage on the LHS, turn left here. This is Cumwell Lane. Follow this road right to the end, you will pass a RHT (Flash Lane) and fishing ponds on your right. As you approach the junction you will see the venue on the right hand side. At the junction, where EMC garage is, turn right. Pass the Consort Suite Hotel, go over the motorway bridge and turn right up the first drive (there is a triangular warning road sign, absolutely, totally and utterly bang opposite the drive you need). If you get to the bus stop on either side of the road, you have gone too far. As you turn into the drive, please take a RHT turn (takes you in front of the bungalow). The venue is then immediately in front of you.

Please respect that the house is a private residence and do not park anywhere near the bottom of the drive, there is enough parking for all near the rings. Please also park where directed. Thank you.
